| Yankees' Aaron Judge gives his mom record-tying baseball: 'She's been with me through it all' | | Sep 29, 2022 | | Aaron Judge finally tied Roger Maris’ home-run mark on Wednesday night and somehow managed to get the ball back to his mother, Patty. Patty has been with Roger Maris Jr. throughout the home run chase waiting for her son to finally hit the homer that tied the mark. Judge did it in the middle of a 3-3 game and put the New York Yankees on top of the Toronto Blue Jays. New York would win the game 8-3. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM According to MLB.com, Yankees reliever Zack Britton brokered an exchange for the baseball. It was initially retrieved by Blue Jays pitching coach Matt Buschmann and was given to reliever Jordan Romano. "She’s been with me through it all," Judge said. "From the Little League days, getting me ready for school, taking me to my first couple of practices and games, being there for my first professional game, my debut and now getting a chance to be here for this -- this is something special, and we’re not done yet." ROGER MARIS JR. BLASTS MLB, SAYS AARON JUDGE’S POTENTIAL 62ND HOME RUN SHOULD BE SINGLE-SEASON RECORD Maris Jr. and Patty Judge hugged after the home run and met the outfielder after the game was over. "Sitting at 60 for a while there with 'The Babe' was nice. Getting the chance to now sit at 61 with another Yankee right fielder that hit 61 home runs, [won] MVPs, world champions, it’s pretty cool," he said. Judge is the sixth player to hit at least 60 home runs in a season and has the American League Triple Crown now on his sights. He leads the American League in RBI (130) and batting average (.313). Judge could pass Maris in the next few games and could even potentially pass Sammy Sosa’s 63-home-run mark set in 1999 and his 64 homer-run mark in 2001. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday the ceremony would take place in Moscow "on agreements on the accession of new territories into the Russian Federation," first reported Reuters. The "agreement" will apparently be signed "with all four territories that held referendums and made corresponding requests to the Russian side," he added. RUSSIA PLAYS DEFENSE AS UKRAINE ADVANCES IN LUHANSK DESPITE REFERENDUM Moscow-installed regionals officials from Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaphorizhzhia and Kherson are expected to represent the four regions after claiming to have achieved a monumental show of support for Russia’s illegal seizure of Ukrainian territory. Polls close Tuesday following five days of voting organized by Russian proxies who have claimed to have garnered 93 percent of civilian support in Zaporizhzhia, 87 percent in Kherson, 98 percent in Luhansk and 99 percent in Donetsk. Western officials have repeatedly rejected the referenda and have pointed to the last move by Russia to annex parts of Ukraine when it held a 2014 vote in Crimea and claimed that some 97 percent of Crimeans supported leaving Ukraine. RUSSIAN PROXIES INTIMIDATE UKRAINIANS AND FORCE REFERENDUM VOTE ON ANNEXATION: LOCAL OFFICIAL Reporting later showed the election had been falsified with only 30 percent of Crimeans even voting in the proceedings and with just 15 percent backing the peninsula’s annexation. Secretary of State Antony Blinken last week accused the Kremlin of bussing in Russians to vote in the referenda and Ukrainian officials over the weekend reported coercive tactics involving intimidation to force Ukrainian’s to vote. Annexing the four eastern and southern regions means Russia will begin to claim another 15 percent of Ukraine as Russian territory. Moscow has repeatedly said it will consider an attack on the regions, where heavy fighting has persisted for seven months, as an attack on Russia itself – leaving some defense officials concerned that Russia could resort to even more aggressive tactics like nuclear escalation. Putin is expected to give a speech following the ceremony. Boston-based registered dietitian-nutritionist Nikita Kapur told Fox News Digital that high cholesterol can lead to cardio-metabolic risk factors such as heart disease, diabetes and atherosclerosis (a buildup of plaque in and on the artery walls). Heightened LDL levels, also known as "bad cholesterol," can put the body at risk for these complications, which is often genetic but can also be manipulated by diet and lifestyle factors. HOW SMALL CHANGES IN YOUR DIET CAN RESULT IN REALLY BIG HEALTH PAYOFFS "Sometimes we see very stubborn levels of high cholesterol that don't necessarily respond favorably to diet and lifestyle," she said in an interview. "But there are always benefits to focusing on those lifestyle factors." Kapur, lead dietician at Compass Nutrition, explained that a mindful diet in terms of managing cholesterol first involves incorporating food sources rich in soluble fibers. These are present in plant foods such as legume beans, nuts, seeds, fruits, vegetables and whole grains. "The goal is to improve soluble fiber, which a lot of us don't get these days," she said. "And the recommendations tend to be anywhere from 25 to 30 grams." EAT THESE 5 POWER FOODS TO HELP PREVENT CANCER Omega-3s and healthy fats found in fish, seeds and oils are also good for lowering cholesterol. If this seems like a lot to chew on — here are five quick diet swaps to help manage cholesterol levels. Instead of reaching for a bowl of Reese’s Puffs, try cereal alternatives that are higher in fiber and lower in sugar. Kapur encouraged consumers to focus on fiber content and the "quality of carbohydrates" instead of calories. "Plain, old-school Cheerios we know have very high concentrations of oats," she said. "And then oats have a lot of beta-glucan and fiber that can be beneficial for reducing cholesterol." SLOW-ROASTED TOMATOES: SWEET, HEALTHY RECIPE FOR FAMILIES WHO LOVE FRESH FOOD Oatmeal can be another great swap for cereal, as well as high-fiber, sprouted-oats bread. Achieving a cholesterol-conscious diet includes a consistent focus on whole grains. White rice eaters should try switching to brown rice or other alternatives with a little more nutritional value like farro, barley or quinoa, she suggested. The whole grain, high-fiber swap can also be done by switching out flour tortillas for corn tortillas or simply leaving the skins on potatoes, which adds more fiber. POTATO HARVESTING: HOW TO KNOW WHEN TO UNEARTH YOUR HOMEGROWN SPUDS Today, she said, "we have a lot of high-fiber packaged products as well, like pastas or breads." It's important to build a diet that ensures "food is still satisfying" while also not breaking the bank, Kapur added. "Bean-based pastas and whole grain-based pastas do have more protein," she said. "But we want sustainable behaviors — so if that's something you have to force yourself to eat, there are other ways to get those benefits." Plant-forward eating is a recent trend, which is a plus for people looking to clean up their diet. FRUIT OR VEGETABLE? TAKE THIS QUIZ TO TEST YOUR HEALTHY FOOD KNOWLEDGE Although some new plant-based food products can be synthetic and heavily processed, Kapur suggested consumers focus on "humble" plant products made of beans, tofu and edamame. Kapur recommended subbing in one plant-based meal per day to help lower cholesterol. "If you're someone who is doing eggs for breakfast, chicken for lunch and turkey for dinner, that would be a good place to swap and add black beans instead of turkey [for] one meal," she said. "You still get to eat your animal proteins, but you're making room for those plant nutrients." While a variety of fish are high in omega-3s — a great resource for keeping bad cholesterol at bay — not everyone is a fish fan. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTER Kapur suggested swapping fish for various nuts and seeds such as flax, chia, hemp, sesame, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, as well as almonds and walnuts. "They will try to mimic some of that omega-3 profile," she said. For those who eat fish but can't spend a fortune, Kapur suggested trying smaller fish such as sardines and mackerel, which are more affordable and available at most food stores. Peanut butter can sometimes get a bad rap in diet discussions, but Kapur said there’s no need to ditch it. The better option is to swap any kind of nut butter — peanut, almond, sunflower and others — for unsalted and no-sugar-added nut butter. Maintaining a balanced diet is key, Kapur emphasized — and too much of anything isn’t beneficial to our overall health. "An easier way to organically focus on making sure that quantity is not an issue is by eating a wide variety of foods, making sure that you are eating consistently and balancing your meals." "They all matter," she said. "We don’t want to be fearing the fats we get from nuts and seeds and olives and avocados." | | | | | Top pro-Senate Democrat super PAC spending big bucks to blast GOP challenger in key swing state over abortion | | Sep 29, 2022 | | FIRST ON FOX: The leading super PAC supporting Democratic senators and candidates is taking aim at the Republican challenging Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan this November in New Hampshire with a major ad blitz on the combustible issue of abortion. The TV commercial from the Senate Majority PAC, which was shared first with Fox News on Thursday, spotlights a comment by former Army Gen. Don Bolduc, the GOP nominee in the small but crucial general election battleground state, where he praised the blockbuster move by the Supreme Court’s conservative majority to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade ruling. Democrats have been targeting Republicans running in the midterm elections over the issue in the three months since the high court opinion sent the fight over legalized abortion back to the states. The ad by the group aligned with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer uses an audio recording of Bolduc, on the day of the June 24 Supreme Court ruling, saying "why don’t we just rejoice that one right now," which elicited cheers from the conservative audience the candidate was addressing. The spot also highlights a clip from Bolduc during a radio interview a couple of days later stressing that "you do not compromise on the issue of life," as well an audio recording of Bolduc speaking at a local Republican committee meeting last December saying "I am not going to vote contrary to pro-life." ABORTION SHOWDOWN: HASSAN TARGETS BOLDUC IN BATTLEGROUND NEW HAMPSHIRE The commercial ends with a video clip of Bolduc in a local TV interview saying "get over it" as he commented on Hassan’s full court press against him over the abortion issue. Senate Majority PAC tells Fox News it’s spending a massive $3.7 million to run the TV spot statewide in New Hampshire, on the Boston, Manchester, Portland, Maine, and Burlington, Vermont media markets. CHECK OUT THE LATEST POLL IN NEW HAMPSHIRE'S SENATE BATTLE Republicans view Hassan, a former governor, as vulnerable as she seeks a second six-year term in the Senate, in a race that’s one of a handful across the country that will likely determine if the GOP wins back the chamber’s majority in the midterm election. Hassan, on the campaign trail and in her ads, has been spotlighting the issue of abortion. Hours after Bolduc narrowly won the Senate GOP nomination in New Hampshire’s Sept. 13 primary, Hassan’s campaign went up with a TV ad charging that "if Don Bolduc and Congressional Republicans take control of the U.S. Senate they would push for a nationwide ban on abortion — a ban with no exceptions." And the narrator in the new Senate Majority PAC ad claims that "Bolduc would give [Senate Republican Leader] Mitch McConnell the power to ban abortion nationwide." THE BOLDUC-SUNUNU HUG THAT GRABBED NATIONAL ATTENTION But Buldoc told Fox News immediately after capturing the GOP nomination that if he were in the Senate, he would not support a proposal, unveiled earlier this month by Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, to implement a 15-week federal abortion ban. "No, I’m not going to support it because it makes no sense. The Supreme Court has already decided that this is a state issue. The states have it. That’s where it needs to be. Women on both sides of the issue will getter a better voice at the state level," Bolduc said. While this is the first time Senate Majority PAC has launched ads in the general election campaign in New Hampshire, it did meddle in the Republican Senate primary. The group spent over $3 million to run ads targeting state Senate President Chuck Morse, whom many Democrats viewed as a stronger general election candidate than Bolduc, who has struggled with fundraising during his 2020 and 2022 runs for the Senate. Bolduc, who ran in the primary as a populist and an outsider, edged the more mainstream conservative Morse by a razor-thin margin in a crowded field of Republican Senate candidates. New Hampshire is just one of the many battleground states where Senate Majority PAC is spending big bucks to launch ads. The group’s reserved nearly $140 million to run spots in the Granite State as well as Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and North Carolina. The Senate is split 50/50 between the two major parties, but the Democrats control the majority thanks to the tie breaking vote of Vice President Kamala Harris, through her constitutional role as president of the Senate. That means the GOP needs a net gain of just one seat in November to win back the majority it lost when it was swept in Georgia’s twin Jan. 5, 2021 Senate runoff elections. | | | | | Democrats knew they were violating Trump's constitutional rights during impeachment | | Sep 29, 2022 | | "They’re going to argue we don’t have due process for Trump. Why make that argument real?" Those words from House Judiciary Committee Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., stand out in the shocking disclosures in the recently released book, "Unchecked: The Untold Story Behind Congress's Botched Impeachments of Donald Trump," Politico Playbook co-author Rachael Bade and Washington Post reporter Karoun Demirjian recount how Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Speaker Nancy Pelosi overrode objections from Nadler that the lack of witness testimony was a denial of due process for then President Donald Trump. Nadler put it plainly and correctly: "It’s unfair, and it’s unprecedented, and it’s unconstitutional." It was a strikingly familiar objection. I testified at the first Trump impeachment before Nadler and criticized the lack of any factual witnesses or Judiciary Committee hearings supporting the articles of impeachment. The book details a position of the House Judiciary that is strikingly similar to my own testimony. The book, however, has not brought a sense of vindication as much as frustration. Nadler publicly toed the line with Pelosi to support a process that he reportedly viewed as abusive and "unconstitutional" even as some of us were set upon by a legion of irate liberal pundits. Worse yet, the book indicates that the bar on witnesses was not compelled by the schedule as claimed by Pelosi and Schiff, but raw politics. It was, I wrote, a decision to follow the rule of Franz Kafka's character that "My guiding principle is this: Guilt is never to be doubted." NADLER FEUDED WITH SCHIFF, PELOSI OVER 'UNCONSTITUTIONAL' IMPEACHMENT OF DONALD TRUMP On the second impeachment, they went one better. They jettisoned any witnesses (including legal experts) in what I called a "snap impeachment." During the impeachments, I suggested that the reason was not any limitation of time but tactical advantage. In both rushed impeachments, Pelosi then held back the articles of impeachment before sending them to the Senate – destroying even the pretense of exigency as the reason for abandoning due process. The book appears to confirm the Kafkaesque logic. It states that neither Pelosi nor Schiff wanted to risk a witness or member going off script by allowing true due process. When Nadler raised historical and constitutional objections, Schiff reported barked back that he needed to watch his "tone" and complained "you’re putting us in a box." That box is an effort to guarantee fairness and Nadler reportedly and correctly observed that "if we’re going to impeach, we need to show the country that we gave the president ample opportunity to defend himself." In my testimony in the only hearing held by the Judiciary Committee in the two impeachments, I objected that "this is wrong. It is not wrong because President Trump is right. … No, it is wrong because this is not how an American president should be impeached." I relied primarily on the Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton cases to show how far the House was far outside any historical navigational beacons. It turns out Nadler and his staff reached the same conclusion and cautioned Schiff and Pelosi to "Stick close to the Nixon and Clinton cases." They refused. Dan Goldman, Schiff's lead counsel and the Democratic nominee to represent New York's 10th District in the House, scoffed and mocked Nadler: "Jerry Nadler? With him, everything is negotiable." When Nadler’s team argued for an approach (as I did) "more like Nixon," Schiff's team reportedly dismissed due process and said, "F--- Donald Trump." CLICK HERE TO GET THE OPINION NEWSLETTER People can disagree on the merits of the impeachments, but both impeachments were an abusive use of the Article I authority in the denial of any substantive hearings before the Judiciary Committee. While it was constitutional in the sense that there is no required process, it was wrong from both a historical and procedural perspective. Of course, the public was not allowed to either hear from witnesses or know that even Democrats like the Judiciary Chair objected on these same grounds. Indeed, when the House elected to pursue the January 6th investigation, they followed the same playbook with Schiff as a member. Traditionally, each party is allowed to pick its own members on such committees. However, Pelosi rejected two of the Republican members and the rest of the party (except outgoing Reps. Lynne Cheney and Adam Kinzinger) boycotted the hearings. The result was the same one-sided production without a hint of fairness or balance in exploring possible defenses or counterarguments. What is most sad about this account is that for a critical moment Nadler rose to the occasion. He defended not just the historical authority of his committee but the constitutional norm, even for a president despised by Democrats. That twilight moment of clarity was soon lost. The book recounts how Nadler made an "effort to get back into Pelosi’s good graces." When I testified, there was not a hint of concern or dissent. Nadler and the Democrats scoffed at the notion that the impeachment departed from core historical precedent or legal protections. They had, as Nadler predicted, made the due process arguments "real," but no one cared. To paraphrase Goodman's reported observation, in Washington, "everything is negotiable." Hurricane Ian officially hit Florida on Wednesday as a Category 4 storm. Millions of Florida citizens have evacuated with millions having already lost power due to the storm. As Velshi reported on the impact of the storm live, Reid took the time to discuss global warming, which she claimed was what allowed hurricanes to "thrive." "There is a lot that has changed about the earth that has made these things worse, right? These things are thriving because the water is getting warmer. We stopped calling it global warming for political reasons, but that’s what it is. Our earth is getting warmer and there’s just no doubt, I think, left that it is feeding these beasts," Reid said. HURRICANE IAN DOING ‘CATASTROPHIC DAMAGE’ TO FLORIDA: BYRON DONALDS Velshi agreed with Reid’s sentiment, suggesting that Hurricane Ian’s intensity is the result of climate change. "Where it comes out is the intensity. People say there have been hurricanes for millennia. Well, that’s true but sometimes we get ones that are so much more damaging and so much more intense," Velshi said. He added, "It’s good we talk about these things in the moment because lots of times over the years when I brought it up, people say, ‘Now is not the time to talk about it.’ Now is the time to talk about it because people are paying attention to how damaging these things are. That does mean taking into account how you build things and how you account for it, which is fine in places like Naples here where you can build stuff that’s off the ground. What about in poor areas where people don’t have the money to rebuild? What about what happened in New Orleans during Katrina? This is why we have to think about climate change in relation to severe weather, in relation to how people can actually mitigate it." AS HURRICANE IAN CLOSES IN ON FLORIDA, ‘THE VIEW’ CO-HOST JOY BEHAR SLAMS DESANTIS FOR CLIMATE CHANGE COMMENTS Reid further insisted migration, like Florida citizens evacuating for the hurricane, will increase due to increased global warming caused by mankind. "The reality is humans, we are literally running from what the climate change that we’re pretending isn’t happening. But we’re physically being moved around the earth because of it," Reid said. "It will actually be the single biggest cause of migration," Velshi responded. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP He concluded, "Generally speaking, prosperous people can move first because they can afford to, but eventually when the grains stop growing or the fields keep flooding, the poor people move, too. We’re going to have to come to terms with the fact that that’s going to be the major cause for migration around the world and here in America. It is really hard to live in places that get hit by tornadoes and get hit by hurricanes on an ongoing basis. You can’t make a living out of it. That’s a really important and necessary consideration." Other media pundits on CNN and MSNBC have mocked Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., in the wake of Hurricane Ian hitting his state for his past history of undermining climate change advocates. | | | | | Ian weakens after hammering Florida, Kamala Harris' big North Korea gaffe and more top headlines | | Sep 29, 2022 | | IAN'S WRATH - Millions without power as Floridians wake up to floods and devastation from violent hurricane. The on-again-off-again couple, who share two children, quietly made the ill-fated decision to get married in February 2021, just one month before Thompson impregnated Maralee Nichols in an affair he has called "based on sex only," in paternity legal filings, according to BuzzFeed News. On top of that, Kardashian had thrown her then-fiancé a 30th birthday party that March on the same night he got Nichols pregnant, according to the outlet.
